Fostering: Meet Rosie!

10:30:00 AM

This is Rosie, our very first foster dog, an adorable little dachshund mix.  She came to us through Two Hearts One Home Rescue.  She had been found as a stray on the streets of South Carolina and taken to a high-kill shelter, along with her four puppies.  Once her puppies were all adopted, it was time for Rosie to find her furever home.
When she first arrived in our home it was very apparent she needed some work before finding her home.  She did not appreciate living with other dogs, and let us know by peeing and pooping everywhere our two dogs slept.  That was a problem we worked through, but it was challenging at first.  Our dogs desperately wanted to be her friend, especially our Peanut.

She was timid and scared, and since it was summer she spent a lot of time at first hiding during thunderstorms.

But she quickly learned that she could trust us, and that treats and walks were especially enjoyable.

Her favorite thing was snuggling with people.

She eventually warmed up to our dogs.

Even to our new puppy, Freja.

But she did find a good hiding spot when they got too rambunctious.

After getting to know Rosie, we determined that the best home for her would be a quiet home with no small kids or other crazy dogs.  It took several months but we finally found it.  She is now happily living with an elderly woman who spoils her and loves her immensely.
